Border militarization war on Latino community

Border militarization war on Latino community

The US Senate has been recalled from August recess to vote on a $600 million border bill to establish military style bases and place drones at the borders to prevent illegal immigrants from crossing over. At the same time many are calling for the repeal 14th amendment of the US Constitution. Immigration activist Ron Gochez said the bill and the idea of changing the 14th amendment are merely attacks on the Latino immigrant community; it is not real immigration reform. The Bush policies of 2008 are being continued, but with greater efficiently under Obama, he said. Obama has in fact deported a greater number of illegal immigrants than the Bush administration did during their time in office. The militarization of the border is also an economic issue, he argued, saying it will cost the American people millions without solving the immigration problem.
