Israeli attack against Iran imminent?

As Iran continues to power up its nuclear capabilities, are Iranians fearing that an imminent war is coming with the US and Israel? Alon Ben-Meir says that what must be held in mind is that the United States and Israel are determined to keep Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. He adds that the sanctions have been working because Iran has decided to come back to the negotiating table.

Karzai: No more contractors!

Karzai: No more contractors!

The Afghanistan war has become the largest outsourced war in United States history and Afghan President Hamid Karzai has called for all private security contractors to be removed. Nathan Park is the Vice President of Good Knight Security Services which provides security for United States building contractors that are building Afghanistan's infrastructure. He says that the United States cannot contract this war out much longer, otherwise it will risk failure.

Can any one person really change or even save the world? What if that person wasn't even old enough to drive a car? Decades ago, 11 year old American Samantha Smith became a hero when she traveled to the Soviet Union, after having written a letter urging its leader, Yuri Andropov, to avoid the possibility of nuclear war. This time, 13 year old Korean-American Jonathan Lee hopes to have an impact on US-North Korean relations by going to North Korea in order to urge its leader to create a peace forest in the demilitarized zone.

Karzai outsourcing Afghanistan war to family?

Karzai outsourcing Afghanistan war to family?

Afghan President Hamid Karzai Tuesday called for all private security firms in Afghanistan to be disbanded in the next four months. The war in Afghanistan is the most outsourced war in US history. Currently 30 percent of all US forces in Afghanistan are private contractors. Visiting fellow Ann Marlow with the Hudson Institute said Karzai's stance does not make much sense. In fact, members of the Karzai family own a number of the private companies working in the country. It is possible Karzai is shutting down all private firms only to later reopen those companies that belong to his family in order to stifle competition, argued Marlowe. This would not be the first time Karzai attempted such a maneuver.

Former US envoy to the United Nations says Israel has until August 21st to attack Iran's nuclear sites. This is before Russia finalizes its shipment of nuclear fuel to Iran. So is an Israeli attack forthcoming? Wayne Madsen says that if there is an attack, multiple nations would join and there could be a major war ahead.

Denver police officers were caught on video tackling and beating a 23-year-old man who was doing nothing but talking on a telephone. The mayor and city officials are deeply divided and concerned over the incident and debating the punishment for the police officer. George Hemminger of Survive and Thrive TV said in this case the individual was lucky the incident was caught on video, because when there are not cameras around it is hard to prove what actually takes place. Hemminger said it is a travesty that the officers have not been fired. So far they have only experienced a reduction in pay. In order to inspire change in policing practices the media needs to cover the issue of police brutality more and bring the issue to the public's attention, argued Hemminger.

Video games have been a popular pastime for many Americans but what happens when you are able to play a game as the enemy? Medal of Honor has now made it possible for a gamer to be a part of the Taliban and fight against United States soldiers. Thom Hartmann says that in some ways it is good to bring the issue front and center however, we must keep in mind that video games were invented by the military to desensitize its soldiers.
