Nearly two years after the launch of the much touted US Stimulus Package, unemployment hovers around ten percent, while nearly twenty percent of Americans remain underemployed. This, leaving many wondering if this era of so called American recovery is being arguably mistaken for an era of Americans struggling to survive.

As many Americans continue to struggle with the economy worsening, is the United States' economy headed towards austerity measures? President Obama told Americans that we need to make broad sacrifice in order to correct the long term fiscal course. Joe Weisenthal says the most likely scenario is some kind of long term sacrifice, such as reducing the cost of Social Security or Medicare.

As people continue to decipher the thousands of US sensitive documents that were released by whistleblowing website WikiLeaks, what will the end result be? While Wall Street is back to normal, everyday Americans are seeing high numbers of unemployment and home foreclosures. As the stimulus fails, could the US see European style austerity measures?

The barrage of State Department documents released by online whistleblower WikiLeaks have sparked international outrage as different nations are waiting for apologies. However, were the documents really that damaging?
