In many parts of the world, organized labor is a force to be reckoned with in the streets and at the polls. Yet in the US, union leaders spend more time campaigning for candidates than defending workers' rights. But unlike their counterparts in Europe, American workers don't take to the streets to fight for fairer salaries, paid time off and better retirement benefits.
