The second battle over Blair Mountain is pitting protesters against corporate interests and what activists call "horrific working conditions." The mountaintop removal techniques used in the area have polluted the water and caused health problems and even deaths. Naturally, a tax cut would be in line for them in order to keep pace with countries like China, the same countries these corporations outsource jobs too. When you offshore labor, you can effectively hire slaves in places like China and put your production in places where they don't care if you put your toxic waste in the water.

The Senate passed "farmaggedon", a bill today that is designed to empower the FDA in order to overhaul the country's food safety regulations. Many believe this will give the FDA and Monsanto, the largest producer of genetically altered seeds, a monopoly on the food industry. Shelly Roche from bytestyle.tv says the current food safety czar Michael Taylor who is a former Monsanto employee, amplifying the connection between corporations and the government.
