Croatia rapist Waleed Latif seen at Melbourne cinema after escaping jail in Split

'What feral girl would accept $10,000?' The shocking moment a young woman defends Croatia rapist as they enjoy a date at the cinema... after he escaped jail in Europe by paying off his 17-year-old victim

One of the Australian men who paid more than $10,000 to avoid being jailed for the rape of a 17-year-old girl in Croatia has been defended by a young woman on a date with him.
Waleed Latif, 21, was confronted inside a Hoyts Cinema in Melbourne by Channel Nine's A Current Affair.
Latif and two friends, Dylan Djohan, 23, and Ashwin Kumar, 23, pleaded guilty to raping an unnamed Norwegian girl at a nightclub in the coastal town of Split in Croatia on July 16 last year.

They also paid the victim $31,594 as part of a deal with Croatian prosecutors to avoid a criminal trial and a possible jail sentence of up to 15 years.
Latif refused to speak when he was approached at a movie theatre, with his only recorded comment coming when he asked his date if she 'wanted to get a donut'.

However, the 21-year-old's friend defended him, suggesting if he was guilty of rape he would have paid a much larger sum to escape jail.
'If it was rape, why would he only pay $10,000?' Latif's friend told A Current Affair.

'You're disgusting for harassing him... what feral girl would accept $10,000.'
Latif and his friend were also filmed driving in his car and walking to their seats inside a cinema by the program.
It comes after the 21-year-old's parents suggested he had 'done nothing wrong' and was being unfairly attacked.
'(He is) perfect. When you do nothing, you are perfect,' the parents told Daily Mail Australia at their home in Melbourne's south-western suburbs earlier in February.

The 21-year-old's parents (pictured) suggested he had 'done nothing wrong' and was being unfairly attacked
'When you are lying, you destroy lives'.
Latif's father Hamed also threatened that the three young men are considering legal action against the many media outlets who have reported upon their guilty plea, saying: 'You guys are going to get sued'.
Latif, Djohan and Kumar were accused of attacking the 17-year-old girl inside the toilet of the Tropic nightclub.
A court heard one of the trio had led the teen to the men's bathroom before the other two joined them and started assaulting her.

Dylan Djohan was one of the other men who paid to escape a jail term, and he had thousands of Instagram followers before he deleted his account
The girl was able to fight them off at the last moment but not before the three left forensic evidence to tie them to the assault. Three semen samples were found on the clothing, with two of the accused claiming they had consensual sex with the woman and the other denying any interaction.
The three friends spent seven months living in a one-bedroom flat in Croatia, swimming in the ocean, playing basketball and drinking schnapps with their lawyers in their leisure time.
The young men have all gone to ground since pleading guilty, shutting down their social media profiles and refusing to speak to reporters.
The five year good behaviour bond they were handed by a court only applies in Europe, not Australia.

The reporter even followed Latif and his friend into the cinema, before they were asked to leave by staff members

A man is on the run after escaping from a low-security workers' cottage in a Northern Territory Jail.
Jeffrey Ahwon, 19, was discovered to be missing on February 6 when he failed to report to Darwin Correctional Centre guards for the morning muster.
Ahwon, who has a distinctive growth on his left ear, was jailed in April last year for his part in the death of a homeless man in a Darwin shopping centre in October 2013.

Ahwon was originally charged with the murder of Ricky Dermody, but ultimately pleaded guilty to the charge of a violent act causing death.
The Department of Correctional Services say he is not a threat to the public, but police have urged people not to approach him.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board from the Serious Crime Squad said officers continue to work around the clock in an effort to recapture Ahwon.

'Anyone found providing Mr Ahwon with a place of refuge will be charged with harbouring an escaped prisoner and placed before the courts,' he said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact NT Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The Prime Minister is considering putting all terrorist prison inmates into a single jail which has been dubbed the British Alcatraz.
The jail, would hold all 131 Islamist inmates, convicted of terror offences, in a single secure unit to stop them infecting other prisoners with their extremist views.
The policy has been recommended by a new review into radicalisation in British prisons, and David Cameron said hinted earlier this week he is 'prepared to consider major changes'.

It would reverse the current policy of dispersing dangerous inmates across eight prisons, which has been in place for 50 years. This stops them creating gangs and power structures within the jail.
One prison source told The Times that it would be better to maintain the the ability to move prisoners, but agreed it would be a good idea to segregate them to stop them 'infecting other inmates with their views.

There are concerns that putting all radicals in one prison, or a secure unit within a jail such as Belmarsh, would give them another reason for protest, and be considered a British Guantanamo Bay.
The proposed jail has been dubbed 'The British Alcatraz', likened to the American jail which was created to house the country's most dangerous inmates, all in one place.
The idea behind Alcatraz was to separate them from other prisoners so they could not influence others with their bad behaviour, similar to the purpose of separating Islamist extremists.
The review also recommends calling former soldiers into young offenders institutions, and for them to run their own cadet corps.

Rolf Harris’ wife has stopped visiting him in jail because of her own health problems mean the two hour commute is too much for her

Rolf Harris’ wife has stopped visiting him in jail because of her own health problems mean the two hour commute is too much for her
Harris' wife Alwyn has avoided the two-hour trip to HMP Stafford
A neighbour said the journey from Berkshire was 'too arduous' to make
Shamed entertainer's early 2017 release could fail after new sex claims
Alwyn hasn't been seen 'for months' after paedophile Harris was jailed

Shamed former entertainer Rolf Harris hasn't had a visit from his wife in prison for months because she is too ill to go.
Alwyn Harris, wife of the disgraced television presenter, has avoided the two-hour trip to HMP Stafford, according to a friend and neighbour.
A man who lives close to the couple in Bray, Berkshire, said: 'We used to be on quite friendly terms with Alwyn and would spot her coming and going.

'But the last time she was seen was months and months ago – not that long after Rolf was sent down.'
The man, who didn't want to be named and was contacted by the Star on Sunday, added: 'She finds the journey to see him very arduous and has become a recluse.'
Harris, 85, was jailed for almost six years in 2014 for 12 indecent assaults against four girls, including one aged just seven or eight.
The neighbour, who used to have street parties with the couple, claimed Alwyn was finding it difficult to cope without her husband.

He thought the couple wouldn't be likely to attend another party in the future.
This week Alwyn was spotted at her luxury riverside home but her housekeeper quickly drew the CURTAINS when a passerby turned to look in.
Harris' early release from prison next year could fail after five further women made claims and are set to make sex allegations against him.
When asked about her employer's visits to Harris, Alwyn's assistant did not deny she hadn't gone to see Rolf in recent months but refused to make any comment.
She also declined to speak about potential new sex charges.
The new claims against him date back to the 1980s but are not believed to involve children.
Investigating officers are set to visit Harris in prison next week to question him in relation to the fresh claims.

Muslims caught in FBI crosshairs

Muslims caught in FBI crosshairs

As young Muslims continue to get caught in the crossfire of the United States government's agencies like the FBI, they are being entrapped because of Islamaphobia. Journalist and Activist Noor Elashi says The Holy Land Five were singled out by the FBI because of who they are and they were out spoken in their communities.
